I would rather CHOOSE to give Palin/McCain my money today than have be REQUIRED to give 40% of my income to Obama for the next 4 years.

I sensed sarcasm in your “…republicans rebuilding the economy…” blurb.  I’m pretty sure that you stated she is supporting two small business owners with a very high income.  An income with which they can invest heavily into American markets, maybe open up their own salons, create jobs and have employees, and live a good prosperous life.  Or we can take half their money and give it to someone that makes minimum wage, we can tax them higher on their income, then tax them even higher when they sell their investments for profit, and they will be forced to work much harder to have a lower net income.

You brought up creating jobs…

Obama wants to raise capital gains taxes. 80% of total stock holdings are held by people who would be subjected to higher investment taxes.  That will create a ton of jobs in the investment world right?  Use logic to answer this one: Why would anyone continue to invest in our markets if it is a guarantee that their taxes will be much higher on their gains?  Explain me that.  If less people invest = less investment firms = less jobs in the investment fields.  But we will create a job for someone to make $40,000/year!!!

Also, tell me this; how will making corporations in America pay more in taxes (which we are already the 2nd highest in the world) create jobs?  How will taking more money from them make more jobs?

That is like saying, “I’m going to take 20% more of your oxygen away from you, it will help you breathe better”.  Am I missing something here?

See, hard working, patriots give their money to the campaign, so that the Grand Old Party, the fiscally conservative will use it to campaign, presumably win office then execute the government in such a way that promotes the interests of those hard working, tax hating patriots.

Instead, they have decided to spend your precious, precious money clothing Sarah and Todd Palin in the finest garb $150,000 can buy. This is just now being reported: Palin’s hair stylist costs… drumroll please… $10,000 per week! Wow that is a great job those Republicans create- wait, this just in: her makeup lady costs $11,000 per week.

Wow. There those republicans go, rebuilding the economy, one hard working job at time!

You’re right, though. Who cares how they choose to spend their money? I certainly don’t. I didn’t give them any of mine. Of course, for anyone who has given their money to this campaign, I can see how this is a big deal. Especially if those donors hope to see this great crowd of fiscal reformers end wasteful spending.

So I guess it’s up to you, whether or not it matters.

Why should any American, or everyone at NBC, care about how she chooses to spend her money.

Your partner “brings in” about $270,000. Are we talking personal income? Are we talking business revenue? Net? Gross? This makes a difference.

If he’s paying personal assistants off the books, out of his personal income rather than on the books, he’s got bigger problems than a change in the tax code.

Personal income taxes and business taxes are two different things. If your partner’s problem is that he doesn’t have his books in order, that can’t be blamed on a progressive tax rate.

You’re right about taxes affecting everyone. What I meant, is that the plan you are so vehemently opposed to will most likely cause your tax rate to decrease, not increase.

By the way, what do you think about McCain’s defense of progressive taxes? Does he convince you?

My partner brings in just over $270,000 annually.  We have already discussed what would happen if Obama goes into office.  Currently we employ 2 full time assistants and one part time assistant.  That is correct; we create jobs (and we did it without Obamas help! I know it is a crazy thought).

If Obama does get elected we will let go of a full time assistant.  This will be in direct coorelation with Obamas tax plan to “spread the wealth”.  One of our assistants will be forced to search for another job in a market where finding a good full time job is very difficult.

If that is the case then I will have to work my job as much as I currently do (between 55 and 70 hours weekly) plus I will have to take over the work of our previous (now unemployed) assistant.  Less time at home, less time with my family, and all of this to work more!  Spread the wealth baby!

Now would Obamas plan be better… Or would leaving us the hell alone and allowing us to choose how we spend/save our money be better for us?  Should we be punished for our hard work?
